7 August 2018. Marsh Lake

7 August 2018. Marsh Lake

We took off from our little campsite in Warm Bay, and I got a good shot of the Llewellyn Glacier at the foot of Atlin Lake.  Atlin Lake flows to Little Atlin Lake, which joins with Tagish Lake and all flow into Marsh Lake – then out of Marsh lake is the beginning of the Yukon River.   There is a lot of water around here!

Glancing back at the Llewellyn Glacier (at the southern end of the Atlin Lake). I guess this is technically the headwaters of the Yukon River
Stopped back in at Atlin – they have free WiFi if you sit in front of the “government Building”, so we picked up our email.

We drove in the rain, mostly, today, and ended up at Marsh Lake.   That put us about 1/2 hour south of Whitehorse so we could head back there for our new water pump on Friday.

Camping spot at Marsh Creek government campground.
They had a floaty bridge – just like at Tom Sawyer Island – between the day use and camping areas at Marsh Lake.
Looking across the swim beach at Marsh Lake at our campsite
Marsh Lake was not looking favorable for kayaking, either
Instead of pumping water to homes – people get to drive in to the water treatment facility and pick up their drinking water.
Close up of the instructions for getting water from the treatment plant
Chuck successfully built a campfire in the rain!
Chuck working on splitting firewood – our little axe was really not up to the chore

  1. Just an FYI…I would INOT walk across that floating bridge. I was not fond of the one in Disneyland, and most certainly this one also!! I LOVED the photo of all the trees across the water!!
